OISMUN'16 http://oismun.net Official website of the OISMUN conference Sat, 06 May 2017 16:09:27 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.7.4 The catastrophe of nuclear energy! http://oismun.net/?p=3502 Wed, 09 Nov 2016 11:18:26 +0000 http://oismun.net/?p=3502        The delegates came up with solutions about nuclear energy. They discussed if it is good for the environment or not. In some countries, nuclear energy is forbidden to be produced and used because it’s extremely dangerous for the environment; but in other countries, it is not harmful at all. It may be expensive but this is better than having a polluted earth. Also, in these countries, it is allowed and legal to produce and use nuclear energy because the country ensures high safety and security standards.

The delegate of United States of America agreed that we should always use nuclear energy because he thinks that it is helpful and healthy for the environment, cheap and has very good benefits for the country. The delegate of Iraq totally disagreed because he believes that it is dangerous and is the source of pollution for his country. The debate was on fire between the delegate of Iraq and the one of Russia. The latter said “if you’re against the use of nuclear energy; what kind of chemical product could affect the environment? “The delegate of Iraq told her with confidence ‘’ I’m not a scientist”.

Nuclear energy can cause many dangerous problems affecting the country and the environment. That’s why some of the delegates suggested their opinions and solutions and if they disagree or agree with the other delegates’ opinions.

Mixing committees! http://oismun.net/?p=3500 Wed, 09 Nov 2016 11:17:16 +0000 http://oismun.net/?p=3500

There are two ECOSOC committees: 1) Status of Women 2) Science and technology .The second topic of the science and technology committee is women’s rights; on the other hand the second topic of the status of women committee is gender equality.

Women have rights just like men; to be educated, to know how to use social networks, to have awareness, etc… Women have the right to feel safe in the streets, so they have to be able to defend themselves.

Some delegates disagreed to teach women about the social media because it could cause some problems and 85% of the countries don’t have social media. So, that proves that it’s possible to live without social media, but other delegates agreed about letting women know about social media because it’s going to help them communicate with people from other countries, know about them and about the way they live.  This way, they could learn about other cultures.

Some delegates think that women should not learn how to defend themselves because it could cause more problems and danger, but other delegates think that it is important because it’s one of their rights.

At the end, we think that the best solution is to give women their rights to be well educated, just like men. We are all humans; we all have the right to LEARN.

Is this the end of peace? http://oismun.net/?p=3498 Wed, 09 Nov 2016 11:16:19 +0000 http://oismun.net/?p=3498

Today, a plane from the United states passing by the People’s Republic of China was shot down. The main suspect was the People’s Republic of China because after the attack they said that if it happened again they will destroy the United States of America. But when the the United States of America received the threat, they warned the People’s Republic of China that if they do anything they will suffer sever punishments. After that, the president of the Philippines wanted to help the the United States of America, and that was the beginning of the problem.

There was a bombing in an American military base in the Philippines where 41 Americans died. the United States of America then decided to send extra troops to the Philippines to secure the base, but that only led to the People’s Republic of China getting angry. The claims of the United States of America in the South China Sea were destroyed by a drone strike, it was said that China was behind the attack. There was also an attack on Afghanistan by a terrorist group called Taliban, the CIA noticed communication between Russia and Taliban.

The delegate of the United Kingdom said that he wanted to send military forces to the South China Sea to prevent war, the People’s Republic of China was against that, but it was approved because the majority voted for this solution, therefor it passed.

Human Rights Council http://oismun.net/?p=3496 Wed, 09 Nov 2016 11:15:06 +0000 http://oismun.net/?p=3496

The delegation of China is against the amendment that the delegation of the United States of America has submitted, because for example if any Muslim political figure went to the United States he shouldn’t be inspected in airports because he is trusted enough by his own country. The delegation of Japan thinks that anyone could be a terrorist even if he is in a high position. The delegation of Germany thinks that everyone should be inspected just for security measures. With 9 votes in favor and 13 against, this amendment did not pass. The delegation of the United States of America is against the resolution as a whole. The delegate thinks that all the amendment talks about is airports, but that was not true, because it also talked about other infrastructures. With 15 votes against and 1 abstention the resolution passed.

We have to secure everything and everyone as hard as we can no matter what but most importantly with neither racism nor sexism. This way, we would live equally for the rest of our lives.

The different points of view. http://oismun.net/?p=3490 Wed, 09 Nov 2016 10:38:32 +0000 http://oismun.net/?p=3490

When we entered the committee, we saw the delegates debating and discussing their different points of view. They were talking about different topics and everyone was expressing his or her point of view either with or against the debate. First of all, they were talking about the first topic which was highly recommending all emerging countries to eliminate taxes on all scientific materials that are being imported from other countries in order to encourage people to do more research and experiments. There were lots of views: for example the delegate of Japan was against this resolution because this could cause some economic problems in the countries that import scientific materials. But in the other hand, the delegate of the United States of America was with this resolution because he thinks that it is important to help emerging countries by eliminating their taxes. Second of all, they were talking about the second debate which consisted on encouraging the state of Japan to provide the new technologies discovered in order to face natural disasters, such as beds that withstand earthquakes. Most of the delegates agreed on this debate because it is important to provide new technologies in the world especially in emerging countries so that they develop and turn from an emerging country to an developed one. And finally the last thing that they did in the committee today was China who said a solution to make emerging countries develop she thought that if they did new schools for math and science in emerging countries they could be a developed country and he also said that we have to eliminate cellphone so that they could focus to be better. But the delegation of UAE disagreed he thinks that it is important to learn all types of things not only math and science because everyone has different talents. In the end I want to say that every one has his point of view and we could discuss with each other so we could know the best solution.

Our rights! http://oismun.net/?p=3488 Wed, 09 Nov 2016 10:36:00 +0000 http://oismun.net/?p=3488 The committee (Human rights council) is talking about the role of infrastructure security in the fight against terrorism. Terrorism is the use of violence to pursue political aims. First of all : to install security cameras in airports to prevent terrorism. Cameras are not installed in all airports (in some not in all of them) so citizens could live in safety. Terrorism is a huge problem faced by the entire world. To install cameras in airports and other places like banks, schools… is the first thing anyone should do to prevent terrorism and to have extra security around them.

In the first amendment  shown by the delegation of China is to remove clause number  3 that talks about the use cameras in banks, school and especially in airports because it simply repeats the same thing as clause number 5, but in the end it didn’t pass.

          CONCLUSION:

  1. Set cameras to secure infrastructures.
  2. Secure all infrastructures with security men.

Everyday the population issue gets worse.. http://oismun.net/?p=3486 Wed, 09 Nov 2016 10:33:21 +0000 http://oismun.net/?p=3486 There is a problem that many countries suffer from overpopulation. The countries that have overpopulation overuse resources like natural and mechanical resources. A Big country that suffers from the problem of overpopulation is China, it has one billion citizens, and India also suffers from overpopulation, it has 1.21 billion citizens.

The delegate of china gave a speech about the problems that china is facing. Some of the other delegates debated and discussed on the problems that the delegate of China said while he was giving his speech. One of the delegates discussed about overpopulation as she said “the problem is not in the earth and its resources but the problem is ours.”

Her solution about the overpopulation was distributing people in several countries will reduce the resources that the country uses. She said that moving refugees where there are resources and development will cause over population, so her solution is to move refugees in new a country that has not been developed yet. Yes, it will take time but she doesn’t want to cause over population.

What we want is to deliver a message to the world that many countries suffer from over population, we may have not noticed it but it’s true. We want to help the world reduce over population with the solution said in the article.

Status of women: Child marriage http://oismun.net/?p=3483 Wed, 09 Nov 2016 10:08:54 +0000 http://oismun.net/?p=3483

Every girl has the right to have a good childhood, get well education, economic and social opportunities. However, when they get married everything changes. People who encourage their daughters to get married early is for economical reasons that someone else will be in charge of her financially or that he believes that a woman’s place is in the kitchen. For example, in Niger, there’s 75% of people are forced to marry someone before the age of 18. In the committee of status of woman they are trying to stop children’s marriage by giving resolutions. Marriage before the age 18 is considered a child marriage. 250 millions girls are forced to be married all around the world.

Countries with the law of child marriage, why:

It’s the country’s law and no one can change that.

It’s one of the important problems of women rights.

In these countries, the legal age of marriage of the boys is 18 and of the girls is 15.

Countries against the law of child marriage:

It affects the women physically and emotionally and it also affects the children, they either die or have some health problems.

It’s not good to be married under the age of 18, but after that it’s  accepted.

Girls might get abused.

Forced and define and arrest the people who make their children’s marriage under age.

Forced a law to disagree with child marriage.
